Anti-muslimisme
"Anti-muslimisme" er en neologisme, med inspiration fra begrebet "anti-semitisme". Anti-semitisme defineres ofte som "et mere eller mindre udtalt had over for jøder", og anti-muslimsme forstås derfor her som "et mere eller mindre udtalt had over for muslimer". Begrebet er bl.a. blevet lanceret af professor Fred Halliday. Halliday har kritiseret Runnymede formulering af bregrebet islamfobi, da fjendskabet i dag ifl. Halliday ikke retter sig så meget mod islam og dens læresætninger som mod muslimer og deres handlinger. Derfor menere han, at "anti-muslimisme" er et mere dækkende begreb. Men mange af de holdninger, fænomener og begivenheder, som i anden sammenhæng beskrives under overskriften islamofobi, falder ind under det, som Halliday kalder anti-islamisme. If. Halliday omfatter anti-muslimisme racistiske, xenofobiske og stereotype elementer.
Halliday skelner mellem en strategisk anti-islamiske og en populistisk anti-muslimisme. Han sporer den strategiske anti-islamiske tilbage til USA i 70'erne, hvor den fiknæring af OPECs olieprispolitik, den islamiske revolution i Iran, bombningen af World Trade Centre i 1993. Denne strategiske anti-islamiske lægger op til en militær løsning på den "muslimske terrorisme". Den populistiske anti-islamisme er if. Halliday relateret til spørgsmålet om muslimernes tilstedeværelse i europæiske samfund og hænger sammen med udviklingen af anti-immigrationshldninger i Vesteuropa siden80'erne og som især højrefløjs-politikere har lagt stemme til. "Eurabia is a social-political neologism which refers to the alleged Arabization and Islamization of Europe, and the European leaders' alleged capitulation to Islamic influences". "In her 2005 book Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis, Bat Ye'or claims that Eurabia is the result of the French-led European policy originally intended to increase European power against the United States by aligning its interests with those of the Arab countries. She claims it as a primary cause of European hostility to Israel, referring to joint Euro-Arab foreign policies that she characterizes as anti-American and anti-Zionist. The term is generally used in combination with "dhimmitude", denoting an alleged attitude of concession, surrender and appeasement towards Islam. Her definition of Eurabia is: "Eurabia is a geo-political reality envisaged in 1973 through a system of informal alliances between, on the one hand, the nine countries of the European Community (EC) which, enlarged, became the European Union (EU) in 1992 and on the other hand, the Mediterranean Arab countries. The alliances and agreements were elaborated at the top political level of each EC country with the representative of the European Commission, and their Arab homologues with the Arab League's delegate. This system was synchronised under the roof of an association called the Euro-Arab Dialogue (EAD) created in July 1974 in Paris." - - " Most serious scolars consider "Eurabia" to be a conspiracy theory. Writing in "Race & Class" in 2006, author and freelance journalist Matt Carr argued that Eurabia had moved from "an outlandish conspiracy theory" to a more mainstream and 'dangerous Islamophobic fantasy'".
